When I was first married my hubby and I got our first dog together, her name was Shelly. She was a cross between a Bull Terrier and a Fox Terrier, she was as nosy as a Foxie and as stubborn as a Bull Terrier!

My hubby met Shelly before me when she was holding on to the lead of a fully grown German Shepherd dog (she was only a few weeks old) and taking it for a walk. The shepherd saw hubby come in and took off with our Shells trying to pull him backwards – very unsuccessfully. Well my hubby was hooked!

That day he picked me up from work and said ‘you’ve got to meet this dog’, well our Shelly was always a very bright dog and this was evident when we first walked into the SPCA. I knelt down slightly and she bolted towards me and did a running jump straight into my arms, obviously I was a goner Shells was getting adopted!

She had been named Shelly after a schoolgirl who had raised money for the SPCA when they were visiting local schools and we thought we’d keep the name as I imagine that little girl would have been so proud 🙂

Rhodesian Ridgeback ornaments are gorgeous at any time of the year, but one’s which you can hang on your Christmas tree are just the best.

My eldest dog at the moment is a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross so hanging a Rhodesian Ridgeback Christmas ornament on our tree sounds like a great idea to me.

Our old lady was born in 1998, but still acts like a puppy now and again and if you give her a Christmas present she’ll open it faster than a nine year old can rip open theirs! Well if it contains a treat that is, I must try and wrap up a new brush for her and see if she still gets as excited!

The ornament above is my favorite Rhodesian Ridgeback ornament and the fact that it’s not Christmassy means that you could hang it up any time of the year.   Why is it my favorite?   Because my beautiful Kahlua could’ve been the model for it!

A cool idea for an extra special dog Christmas ornament is a personalized one and I have a few ideas for you as far as personalized dog ornaments go. First you could get your very own paw print Christmas ornaments (parents do this for their babies all the time, just because your’s is a fur baby why should that stop you?). A second idea is a photo frame style of ornament where you can put a favorite picture of your dog into the ornament.

Old English Sheepdog Christmas Ornaments

I love animals and in particular I love dogs, the first dog I remember having as a family was an Old English Sheepdog called Digby.   I love the look of Old English Sheepdogs and their personalities are fantastic too which is why it’s great to hang a few Old English Sheepdog Christmas Ornaments on the tree each year.

I now live in a much warmer climate than that of my childhood and I don’t think and Old English Sheepdog would handle our summers very well so I can’t get another of these affectionate animals, but I can hang as many of their ornaments on my tree as I like.
